John Mortimer (shown above with Leo McKern as his famous fictional barrister, Horace Rumpole) passed away just this January, at age 85. I was surprised to learn that he had been a legal advisor for Boston Legal.

Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books are all built on the conceit that the world of literature really exists, and can be entered by reading, by becoming "lost in a good book." Thursday Next, the heroine of the series, works for an organization called Jurisfiction, a branch of law enforcement made up of people both from the real world and from inside books, who investigate crimes that span both worlds.

Book Count: 964.
