Lovely illustrations by Libico Maraja, a great post-war Italian illustrator. These are from Alice In Wonderland, but he has also done pictures for Peter Pan, A Christmas Carol, Kim, Gulliver's Travels, Pinocchio, The Wizard of Oz, and many other childhood classics. He also worked with animation and comic books (which is what we used to call graphic novels, kids). These are in what I used to call the "Solid Style;" cartoonish, but with a sort of weight and depth.
So great! Why is this a lost styl, I wonder? It seems timeless and iconic.
