Grendel's Dam

"Beowulf even went so far as to kill Grendel's mother, but since this was before the Age of Chivalry it was considered acceptable behavior."--Richard Armour.

Hey!

Just wondering if you know what book that first image of Grendel's Mother comes from? I've tried searching for it, but with no luck. Thanks!

That is from Andrew Lang's "Red Book of Animal Stories."

And for the record, I have to say the second picture is not the Dam, but Beowulf beheading Grendel's corpse in the underwater cave.
